Looking
Back
Chandler
Products has been a leader in the fastener industry for more than a
half a century. While that may seem like enough of a history on its
own, we can actually trace our roots back to the beginnings of the automobile
industry.
It
was 1913 when Frederick C. Chandler and seven others left Lozier Motors
of Detroit to form their own automobile company with one goal — to
offer a quality product at a moderate price. Chandler produced several
automobiles in the 1920’s that sold quite well. Eventually Chandler
was sold to the Hupp Motor Car Company and the entire Chandler line
was dropped.
But as one chapter ended, another began. In 1930 Chandler was commissioned
to produce bolts for the Hupp Corporation. The same dedication to quality
that Chandler had put into cars was now turned to the manufacture of fasteners.
Soon several big automobile companies including Pontiac, Hudson Motors,
Oldsmobile and Cadillac were purchasing their fasteners from Chandler
Products.
Today,
you can still find a few of the original Chandler Motor Cars around.
In fact, we have a "Chandler Six" touring sedan proudly displayed
in our lobby. And while the product may have changed considerably, our
original mission still stands — offer a quality product at a moderate
price.
